TQB Program

The TQB program is a comprehensive Professional Development Program in Modern Biology for Maryland Middle School and High School Biology Teachers. The University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) is now in the eighth year of this comprehensive professional development program.

Offered over 14 months, participants enroll in up to 3 credits of graduate course work providing training in a variety of topics, including molecular and cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, evolutionary theory, and laboratory skill development.

Funded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), as one of the Improving Teacher Quality State Grants: Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting Fund Partnership Grant Program, Public Law 107-110 (No Child Left Behind Act of 2001), the TQB Program at UMBC will help teachers enhance and fortify their core knowledge and become highly qualified in biology through face-to-face and online instruction with UMBC faculty.
