Research Assistant (Part-Time)
The Ophthalmic Research Laboratory at Coppin State University is looking to hire a part-time (30hrs/week) research assistant to work on projects pertaining to oxidative stress in the neural retina. Applicants must have a B.S. or M.S. in Biology/Biochemistry/Molecular or Cell Biology with at least 2 years of experience in conducting routine molecular biology experiments and biochemical assays.
The candidate should have advanced level experience in performing independently the following research techniques/methodologies/instrument use:
· Cell and tissue culture techniques
· Preparation of media/solutions of appropriate concentrations and composition
· Molecular biology methodologies: DNA and RNA purification, AGE, PAGE, Gel imaging, designing primers, qPCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry
· Spectrophotometry, microplate reader
The candidate will be responsible for documenting all experimental details, perform data analysis, and maintain equipment logs. The candidate will also be responsible for tracking inventory and for day-to-day operation and maintenance of the lab.
