As an undergrad, Casey was the lead author of the Omland Lab's paper recently published in Animal Behaviour. She showed that author gender influenced the research being done on on female bird song, and that women created a new paradigm for thinking about the original evolution of bird song. The article emphasizes the crucial importance of faculty diversity.
